Nancy asks…

What’s more effective, top Internet Security suites or stand-alone programs?

I have a new Toshiba laptop which I got for Christmas and would like to establish what would be a wiser option – to get a top Internet Security suite for my laptop or 3 stand-alone programs, an Anti-Virus, an Anti-Spyware and a Personal Firewall program?

Money is no object, because I can quite easily crack any of the available programs in the market so don’t limit your suggestions just to the free ones!

What is the best all-round Internet Security Suite:

ESET Smart Security, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, McAfee Internet Security 2009, Norton Internet Security, or PC Tools Internet Security 2009?

If you recommend stand-alone programs, recommend 3 of the best of their respective kinds please!!

Ta,
Loz

Stand-alone programs – My old Nan use to say “never put all your Apples in one basket”.

Ruth asks…

What is the best spyware and malware remover on the market at this time?

I know someone installed some malware on my computer because a tiny black clock shows in the left corner of the screen preventing me from accessing the internet every time I try to open Google. What would you recommend I buy. I have all the free tools like Ad-Aware and Advanced Windows Care but I need something more powerful

Mandy answers:

None can be classified as the best because they all have good and bad points. Here is a good example:

Laura asks…

How do you get an unbiased source of news? FOX, CNN, ABC, BBC?

This question from someone else was deleted by the socialists running Answers, so I’ll repost it again until Yahoo stops restricting free speech in our case.

As this was someone else’s question, this was my answer:

Posted by Confederate Soldier:

Step 1: Shun all cable news. Cable News is entertainment, not journalism. FOX, ABC, CNN, NBC, CBS, CSPAN, BBC, PBS, and the rest are all owned by a minority of multinational corporations who regulate the media’s output through funding and dictations of agenda from the top.

Step 2: Shun what cable news has taught you. The enemy of cable news is the On-line free press. Libertypost.org, WorldNetDaily, and Politico are just three of these reliable news sources. Cable news derides Internet news because it cuts into their ratings and does not support the agendas of the sponsors of cable news.

Step 3: Just have some common sense! The Internet is the most powerful tool free humanity has. It is an open, unregulated forum, yet we are taught to fear it’s unpredictability. It’s hypocrisy! We’re taught to accept that free market capitalism is the best way to go, but a true free market would theoretically be chaos! People setting their own prices, it’s madness! People will start charging whatever they want and you’ll have no choice but to pay excessive prices. That is completely false, yet we’re supposed to believe that, given an open forum, people will invent all kinds of lies and spread them…with no agenda? This coming from those whose agenda is that of their sugar-daddies like Murdoch. Have common sense. When you read something that is a baseless opinion, reject it as a baseless opinion. When you read something that is reinforced with trustworthy testimony and fact, then consider it.

Turn the tube off and keep it off. That’s the best thing you can do to keep yourself informed. Get information from those who have reputations for loyalty to their readers and NOT profiteering corporate ownership.
That last answer, the one about hiding in a cave, is really pathetic. With your first sentence you agree with me, and with your second you chastise me, and yourself. If I’m hiding in a “cave” because I don’t trust cable news, then so are you.

Mandy answers:
